German Constitutional Court Clears Lisbon Treaty for Ratification

The German Constitutional Court has decided that “there are no decisive constitutional objections to the Act Approving the Treaty of Lisbon” (link hat tip: Ana Yankova). According to the Court the treaty, as such, is compatible with German Constitution. The court specifically stated that the treaty would not lead to the formation of an EU state.

This outcome was expected, but I’m glad that one more obstacle in front of the Treaty of Lisbon is gone.
