There is an article in the weekend edition of the leading French newspaper Le Monde that has really worried me.
The article by François Frison-Roche claims that there is a “phenomenon of the criminalization of the State” in Bulgaria. Mr. Frison-Roche says that “not only the Parliament, the government, the Presidency of the Republic, the “prokuratura” (the prosecution), the high court instances, the piolice…are concerned, but also the political parties and the media”.
An anonymous former US ambassador to Bulgaria is cited that the problem with Bulgarian organized crime is that it is “too well organized”.
An English Google translation of the article is available here.
